Phones
Characters will find a basic smartphone on their person when they arrive on the train, which comes pre-loaded with contact info for all other passengers. Phones include a camera to snap photos and videos and a few tacky ripoffs of popular games and basic tools like a note-taking app. Modern-day characters with their own phones may bring those instead, though they won't be able to connect to the internet, reach their old contacts, or access any practical apps. But hey, at least you can still flip through your photo reel?

Network While there is no wifi on the train, there is a network. Passengers can post to the shared message board, create group chats, or contact people directly — unsurprisingly, the phones can't seem to reach anyone who isn't aboard the train. And while there is an anonymous function on the phones, characters may find it... unreliable. At the most inopportune moments, their messages may come through with their names still attached.
Phones will automatically translate messages into a language that its reader can comprehend.
Notable Apps Happy Home: Shelter in a constantly shifting environment might be tough, but not to fear — all phones come installed with a HAPPY HOME app. Tapping the app icon will suddenly generate a setting-appropriate living space — for example, a forest car may create a cozy tree house, or in a city, characters could receive a key to a nearby apartment. There can be variation between players, and apps can conveniently crash for characters to share living spaces, so have fun with it!
Smoke & Mirrors: While this program markets itself as a strategic stealth app, its function is really just to help everyone fit into the setting of each car by giving them a wardrobe change. Press the app icon and your outfit will automatically transform into something more appropriate! Be careful though, because you can't actually give it any preferences. You're stuck wearing whatever it gives you for this car!
(However, it should be noted that none of the car denizens actually care if you stay in your normal, canon outfits. They already seem to know you're not from around here...?)
E2 Passenger Satisfaction Surveys: This app will occasionally send characters polls (e.g. activity check-in polls) to complete, which will lock them out of all other phone functions until they answer. If a passenger stubbornly refuses to participate, or ignores it for long enough, the program will make its own, best guess at their answers.
Don't worry — it always guesses right!
Ground Mall: While the interface is clearly a shopping app, it looks like nothing is listed right now. Try again later?
IC Directory Want to reach someone? Characters are listed in an IC Directory, shown in the comments of this page. Information will be filled out OOCly, so you can pose information that your character would not otherwise divulge, etc. None of it can be edited ICly.
